Join us in a revealing natural, cultural and archeological tour, to the southern zone of greater Mexico City.
Discover the canals and painted boats of Xochimilco Park and the Dolores Olmedo Museum. Visit historic Coyoacan for lunch on the plaza and take in the Frida Kahlo Museum. Explore the spectacular Xochicalco archeological site in the semi-tropical state of Morelos. Embrace the captivating Pueblo Magico of Tepotzlan. Visit the new Museo Soumaya as well as the Museo de Artes Populares. Stay at a comfortable highly-rated hotel selected to avoid DF traffic congestion. Itinerary - 5 Days
DAY 1
7:00 AM Depart on a four hour drive to Mexico City. After arriving and checking into our hotel, we’ll enjoy lunch together. Then, we’ll head out to the picturesque district of Coyoacan where we’ll visit the Frida Kahlo Museum. We’ll have dinner that evening in Coyoacan at a lovely restaurant on the main square.
DAY 2
We’ll start the day with breakfast at our hotel. This morning we’ll explore the Parque Ecologico Xochimilco where we’ll bird-watch around the marshes and lakes with our guide. For lunch we’ll board a traditional trajinera and tour Xochimilco’s historical canals. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the remarkable Dolores Olmedo Patino Museum with its manicured gardens and astonishing collection of art, including many priceless pre-hispanic pieces as well as original paintings by Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and Angelina Belof. That evening we’ll return to our hotel for cocktails and have dinner at a nearby restaurant.
After breakfast at our hotel, we’ll visit the new Soumaya Museum and enjoy lunch in the Polanco District. That afternoon we'll enjoy the remarkable Museo de Arte Popular (Folk Art Museum). We'll have dinner together a fine restaurant downtown.
DAY 4
Once we've had breakfast at our hotel, we’ll travel to the semi-tropical state of Morelos, 2 hour south of Mexico City. Here, we’ll spend the morning bird-watching and exploring the spectacular archeological site of Xochicalco, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We'll enjoy lunch on the shores of Lago de Coatetelco. On our way back we’ll visit the Pueblo Magico of Tepoztlan, where we’ll experience its Sunday market. Once we’ve returned to Mexico City, you may relax at our hotel, or wander around Perisur, one of the city’s most upscale shopping centers. We’ll enjoy cocktails and dinner that evening at a nearby restaurant.
DAY 5
After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll pack and check out of our hotel. We’ll leave for San Miguel de Allende. In San Juan del Rio, we'll stop for lunch at a Barbacoa restaurant; a traditional cuisine found in the State of Queretaro. We plan to arrive in San Miguel by 6:00PM
